Constructed Treatment Wetlands

Constructed Treatment Wetlands (CTW) can be used to treat industrial, municipal, commercial, and residential waste water.  They are a low cost and environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional treatment methods.  In many cases, CTW’s are so effective that reducing contaminants below the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) limits may not be economically achievable without them. CTW’s have been shown to effectively remove constituents such:

  1. Iron, Lead, Mercury, Zinc, Copper, Nickel, Manganese, Cadmium, and others.
  2. Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl benzene, and Xylene (BTEX).
  3. Landfill Leachate.
  4. Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB).

SET Environmental, Inc. tailors every CTW specifically for the site, type of effluent, and amount of discharge.  Bench scale and/or in situ pilot studies are commissioned using actual samples of the effluent to be treated.  SET only moves forward after the desired results are reached in the lab.  SET’s National Sustainable Practices Division has decades of experience and the vast resources needed to complete any size project.  From the identification of contaminants to the pilot study, through to the site and condition specific design to the final installation and post monitoring and maintenance, SET has the staff with unsurpassable qualifications to handle even the most difficult of environmental dilemmas.  Since 1979, SET has been a national leader in solving complex Industrial and environmental problems.
